MARVEL is now the Digital Maine Library
Maine’s online resources have been known as MARVEL since 2004.
The Maine State Library and Maine InfoNet are introducing the 2018 replacement, the Digital Maine Library!
A new name, a new logo, a new website and new technologies providing access to both old and new content.
Spread the word – and the new web address: MARVEL is now the Digital Maine Library https://library.digitalmaine.org

The Digital Maine Library provides every resident of Maine with access to online resources that include a collection of full text articles and abstracts from magazines, newspapers, journals and reference. It also provides students, business people, public library patrons, and higher education students and educators the ability to use online learning tools.

All content in the Digital Maine Library is made available through extensive public funding administered by the Maine State Library and significant funding from the University of Maine.

Procurement Strategy graphic - word cloud for digital libraryContracts

In 2018, The Maine State Library used the state’s RFP procurement process to select a vendor for the core general resources and another RFP to establish a Pre-Qualified vendor list to obtain the best pricing from vendors for online resources not part of the core state package. Gale/Cengage was the successful bidder for the core general services. Other content has been contracted with EBSCO, ProQuest, Pronunciator, Springer and Niche Academy.
